Nurul Islam Jihadi, the secretary general of radical Islamist group Hefazat-e-Islam, has died on Monday while being treated at a Dhaka hospital.
The Hefazat leader breathed his last around 12:15 pm at Labaid Hospital while undergoing treatment, confirmed Hefazat’s Organising Secretary Mir Mohammad idris.
He was hospitalized on Saturday after he fell ill while returning to his residence at the capital’s Khilgaon from a Hefazat event at the National Press Club.
Nurul Islam was made the general secretary of Hefazat in December last year following the death of Nur Hossain Kashemi.
