EC requests home ministry not to allow political events from 18 Dec to 7 Jan

To this end, EC Deputy Secretary Md Atiar Rahman sent a letter to the senior secretary of the Public Security Division of the home ministry on Tuesday

The Election Commission (EC) has requested the home ministry not to permit any political programmes, including rallies, from 18 December to 7 January.

To this end, EC Deputy Secretary Md Atiar Rahman sent a letter to the senior secretary of the Public Security Division of the home ministry on Tuesday. 

In the letter, the EC urged the ministry to refrain from permitting any gatherings or political events that could potentially hinder voter turnout in the forthcoming national elections schedule for January 7, 2024.

The campaigning for rival candidates set to commence on 18 December.
