Senior leaders of Awami League considered Matia Chowdhury as the next President of the country

Awami League presidium member and former minister Matia Chowdhury has become the deputy leader of the House.

The development came at a meeting of the ruling Awami League's Parliamentary Party (ALPP) at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban on Thursday night.

The ALPP meeting was held with Prime Minister and Leader of the House Sheikh Hasina in the chair.
