Metro rail to run on election day

Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Line-6 Deputy Director (Media) Tarafdar Mahmudur Rahman confirmed this on Thursday

Metro rail services will continue on the day of the 12th parliamentary election, slated for 7 January, Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Line-6 Deputy Director (Media) Tarafdar Mahmudur Rahman said on Thursday.

“No decision has been taken to stop the services of metro rail. The services will remain as usual on the election day,” he added.

Meanwhile, Public Security Division Senior Secretary Md Mustafizur Rahman said public transport, private cars, CNG-run autorickshaws, and other autorickshaws would also be allowed to ply on the polling day for the convenience of voters.

However, no long-route buses will be allowed to ply the roads that day, he said.
