Satranji’s GI recognition celebrated

The Geographical Indication (GI) recognition of Sataranji was celebrated through a gala programme at Nandini Bhaban in the capital on Monday. 

Marking the recognition, Karupanna, a showroom of handmade products, also inaugurated an exhibition centre which will display the traditional Sataranji. 

Famous artist Monirul Islam, poet Nirmalendu Goon, novelist and journalist Anisul Hoque, young artist Tarun Ghosh and Shafiqul Alam Salim were present as guests.

The Department of Patents, Designs and Trademarks (DPDT) has registered Shatranji as the country's GI product.
