7 flyovers on Dhaka-Gazipur route open to traffic

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader inaugurated the flyovers virtually from the secretariat

The government on Sunday opened seven flyovers of the Bus Rapid Transit Line-3 Project, also known as BRT Project, on the Gazipur-Airport route to reduce traffic congestion, particularly to tackle the upcoming rush of homegoers ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr.

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader inaugurated the flyovers virtually from the secretariat.

“Now the flyovers are open to traffic. This is a gift for the homebound passengers from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina ahead of Eid,” he said.

“The construction of this project has been delayed and we could not finish it either as per deadline. Some untoward incidents also occurred in its implementation.”

The minister said the overall progress of the project is 91% and the rest of the work will be completed by December this year.
