Firm hired for railway workshop feasibility study

The firms – SYSTRA SA and France and Development Design Consultants Limited, Bangladesh – will get 16 months and Tk 26.98 crore to conduct the study, develop a detailed engineering design and prepare bid documents

The Bangladesh Railway has appointed a France-Bangladesh joint venture firm for carrying out a feasibility study to set up a new carriage and wagon maintenance workshop in Rajbari.

The firms – SYSTRA SA and France and Development Design Consultants Limited, Bangladesh – will get 16 months and Tk 26.98 crore to conduct the study, develop a detailed engineering design and prepare bid documents.

Project Director Kudrot-E-Khuda and Systra Managing Director (South Asia) Hari Somalraju on Wednesday signed a contract in this regard at Rail Bhaban in Dhaka in presence of Railways Minister Md Nurul Islam Sujan.

In February 2020, the planning ministry approved the project at a cost of Tk 30 crore. Currently, the maintenance work of rolling stock is being done at the Saidpur railway workshop in Nilphamari.
