Hefazat leader Shakhawat arrested

Another leader of Hefazat-e-Islam was arrested on Wednesday in a case of violence during protests against Indian prime minister Narendra Modi’s March 25-26 visit to Bangladesh.

Members of Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested Shakhawat Hossain, 42, central assistant secretary general of Hefzjat-e-Islam, from the capital's Lalbag area in the evening.

Mahbub Alam, joint commission (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), confirmed the news.
