Man remanded over embezzling Tk 10cr gas bill

Faruk through his agent banking service misappropriated the money paid by the Titas gas customers in three separate wards in Mirpur

A Dhaka court on Tuesday placed Md Faruk, arrested in a case lodged for embezzling Tk 10 crore paid by 1,500 customers of Titas gas in the capital’s Mirpur area, on three-day remand.

Metropolitan Magistrate Md Mamunur Rashid passed the order after police produced the accused before the court and sought seven days to interrogate him under their custody.

As the Titas authorities went to disconnect the lines of the bill defaulters, they learnt about the fraud of Faruk.

Rapid Action Battalion on Sunday arrested Faruk in Chattogram.
