5 Bagerhat cops hurt in Hefazat attack

The injured policemen have been admitted to Mollahat Upazila Health Complex

Five policemen, including the officer-in-charge (OC) of Mollahat Police Station, were injured in an attack of Hefajat-e Islam activists in Bagerhat on Monday morning.

The incident took place at 11:15 am when teachers and students of various madrasas gathered near the Hospital Corner area in Mollahat to protest the arrest of Hefajat leader Mamunul Haque.

When the law enforcers rushed to the spot, the activists attacked them, at least five cops injured, said Bagerhat Additional Superintendent of Police Mir Shafin Mahmud.

The injured policemen have been admitted to Mollahat Upazila Health Complex.
