In a significant move toward fulfilling post-election pledges, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman announced the launch of the "Farmers Card" starting April 14 (Pohela Boishakh) and a nationwide canal excavation program beginning March 16 in Dinajpur, emphasizing that a state's strength is intrinsically linked to the economic empowerment of its citizens.
Speaking on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium, the Prime Minister inaugurated a pilot remuneration scheme that currently provides monthly honors to 16,992 individuals serving in 4,908 mosques, 990 temples, and 144 Buddhist monasteries, with plans for a phased nationwide expansion.
Highlighting that his administration began implementing these welfare initiatives before "the election ink had even faded," Rahman reiterated the government's commitment to building a self-reliant Bangladesh within the next ten years, grounded in social security and transparency to prevent the resurgence of fascism or subservient external forces.
