Fire at Banani's FR Tower
Several people are trapped inside the building
A fire has broken out at a building in Dhaka's Banani area.
The fire broke out at FR Tower around 12:52pm on Thursday, Dhaka Fire Service Central Control Room Duty officer Ataur Rahman told the Dhaka Tribune.
Thirteen units of the Dhaka Fire Service and Civil Defense are trying to douse the fire. According to the control room, an unknown number of people are still trapped inside the building.
A number of eyewitnesses claimed that fire services personnel arrived late at the scene, causing the fire to grow out of control.
There are also reports of several people being injured while trying to jump from the building seeking safety.
