Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on Friday imposed Section 144 in and around Jamuna, the official residence of the Chief Adviser.

The decision came amid ongoing protests by government employees demanding the publication and immediate implementation of the 9th pay scale gazette.

DMP Commissioner Sheikh Md Sajjat Ali, who said the restriction was imposed to maintain law and order in the area, confirmed the matter.

Earlier, to strengthen security around Jamuna, six platoons of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) were deployed in the Kakrail Mosque and Hotel InterContinental areas of the capital.

After the BGB deployment, DMP formally enforced Section 144, which bans all forms of public gatherings, processions, and demonstrations in the designated areas.

Meanwhile, Inqilab Mancha has been staging a sit-in in front of Jamuna since Thursday, demanding justice for the killing of Shaheed Sharif Osnan Hadi.

The platform has called on its supporters to gather in front of Hotel InterContinental after Jummah prayers on Friday.
