Govt service holders to face dismissal, retirement for joining movement

The government can now be able to dismiss or send its official into retirement if they hinder the duties of their colleagues,

Government service holders will be subject to compulsory demotion, dismissal, or retirement if they participate in any protest or movement, according to the Public Service (Second Amendment) Ordinance, 2025.

The decision was taken when public servants of different officers, recently went on protest against the reform initiatives of the interim government following the changeover on 5 August last year.

The government on Wednesday issued the Public Service (Second Amendment) Ordinance, 2025 signed by Legislative and Parliamentary Affairs Division Secretary Hafiz Ahmed Chowdhury.

According to the newly adopted ordinance, from now on the government will be able to dismiss or send its official into retirement if they hinder duties of their colleagues, violating the rules and regulations.
