Dr. Zahed Ur Rahman, Policy and Strategy Advisor to Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, has described the obsession with BCS exams as a "disease" and urged the youth to break free from it.
Speaking at a BPSC reform event on Monday, April 13, 2026, he highlighted how students are wasting their most productive years chasing cadre positions, often starting as early as their first year of university.
To discourage this, he proposed reducing BCS incentives, lowering the age limit, and making the examination significantly more difficult. Dr. Rahman emphasized that minor tweaks are insufficient.
instead, "surgical" and perhaps painful reforms are necessary to overhaul the public service commission and the overall governance structure.
