According to the latest ICT Usage Survey 2025-26 by the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS), while mobile phone penetration has reached 89.4% of the population (approximately 151.9 million people), nearly 41.6% still remain outside of internet coverage.

The survey reveals that only 58.4% of citizens have access to the internet, and a mere 11.4% utilize computers. At the household level, while 99% of families own mobile handsets—with 73% possessing smartphones—internet connectivity is limited to 57.2% of households.

Despite near-universal electricity access (98.6%), the gap between device ownership and actual digital connectivity remains a significant challenge for the country's technological integration.
