Bangladesh to get $4 billion from IDB

IDB regional chief confirms the funding to assist reform efforts

The Islamic Development Bank (IDB) has agreed to provide Bangladesh with $4-5 billion over the next three years for state reform efforts.

IDB Regional Hub Manager Muhammad Nassis Bin Sulaiman has confirmed the funding, finance adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed told reporters at the Bangladesh Secretariat on Tuesday.

The funding would be used for repairing roads damaged during the recent floods in the country’s east, other infrastructural development and for improving the power-energy sector.
